Got an email from ValidShip?
If you told an online store that your package never arrived, the store may have asked us to look into it. Here's who we are, what we'll ask you for, and how to tell a real email from us apart from a fake one.
What we'll never ask you for
- A password or a sign-in code
- Card numbers, bank details, or a payment of any kind
- A fee to “release” your refund, gift cards, or crypto
- Your Social Security number
- Photos of your ID, by email or as an upload to us (if an ID check is needed, it happens on Stripe's own secure page)
- To call a number, install an app, or let someone into your computer
If a message that says it's from us asks for any of these, it isn't from us. Don't reply to it. Forward it to youssef@validship.com and let the store know.
Who we are
ValidShip LLC is a company in Pennsylvania. Online stores hire us to review reports of missing packages. We look at the carrier's delivery record, sometimes ask the customer for their side, and tell the store what we found. The store decides on your refund, not us.
We work for the store. We don't sell you anything, and you don't need an account with us.
Why you got the email
You reported an order as missing, and the store asked us to help finish the report. A real email from us:
- shows the store's name as the sender, from an address ending in @validship.com
- mentions your order number
- links to a page starting with https://validship.com/c/
Each link works once and stops working after two weeks.
Is this email a scam? How to check
The surest way is to go around the email. Open the store's website the way you normally would, find its contact page, and ask whether it uses ValidShip for missing-package reports. Don't use a phone number or link from the email you're unsure about.
You can also check where the link goes before you open it: hover over it on a computer, or press and hold it on a phone. It should start with https://validship.com/. An address that only looks similar, with extra words added or a different ending after the dot, isn't us.
What we'll ask you for
- A short account of what happened: when you checked, where you looked, and anything the carrier told you.
- A copy of the police report you filed about the missing package. A photo or PDF is fine.
- Porch or doorbell footage, if you have it.
- A quick ID check on Stripe's page, to confirm the report comes from the person on the order. Stripe checks the ID. We only find out whether it passed and the name on it.
- Now and then, one follow-up question by email.
You'll never be asked to pay anything.
Do I have to do this?
It's your choice. The store uses our review to decide on your refund, so if you'd rather not take part, reply to the email or contact the store and ask what happens next.
What happens to what you send
We only use it to review your report. The store gets our finding and whether the name on your ID matched, not your files. Footage and police reports are deleted within 90 days after the review closes, and the written outcome is kept for up to 24 months.
To ask about, correct, or delete your information, contact the store or email youssef@validship.com. Our privacy policy has the details.
